    seeking help

    Dear all,
I do not understand the following sentence:
"Stick a fork in me. I am done."
Does this mean I am tired or something else?

    Re: seeking help

If you stick a fork into a cake that is baking, and the fork comes out dry, then the cake is fully cooked, done. If you stick a fork into a roasting turkey or chicken and the juices run clear, then it is ready to eat, done.

This expression compares a person having completed a task to foods having been completely cooked.

It's not that common. It is mostly a play on words, a joke.
