    conviviality of communities?

    Hello!
Can anobody paraphse the following sentence for me ?( especailly the red parts) Thanks in advance!!

It is we 'townies' who are the ones with the most to gain by putting the notion of ' the environment' firmly at the center of our lives- in terms of the air we breathe, the quality of our food and the conviviality of our communities.

    Re: conviviality of communities?

    "Townies" - a close-knit community within a city.

The people in this community are protecting themselves if they concern themselves with the local environment. They rally together if some factory starts spouting pollution in their area, they demand that the supermarkets that sell their food maintain basic health standards, and they maintain friendly relations with their neighbors, so that everyone watches out for one another.
