    get it over with

    Hi,
    how can I use get it over with? do I have to write anything after "with"?
    Could you please give me some examples so that I will be able to use it correctly?

    I've been avoiding a visit to my dentist, but I'm going this afternoon because I want to get it over with.

    I would only use this phrase in an informal conversation.
