    Showcase

    Dear Teacher,

Is the "s" necessary for the following sentence?

"a showcase of XXX items that appeal(s) to you......."

    Many thanks.

    Re: Showcase

    Many thanks.
    BTW, what's the principle behind?
Does it apply to examples like:

    A bunch of keys is/are....
A number of people is / are....
A selection of items is /are....

    :P

    Re: Showcase

    Agreement in number.
A bunch of keys is.... (The word "bunch" is construed as singular.)
A number of people are.... (The word "number" is generally construed as plural.)
A selection of items is.... (The word "selection" is construed as singular.)
