He asked what book learning could have to do with the business od life.

Usually,"S have something/ a little/ etc to do with O" means something like "there is relation with." So in my question sentence, what should come to the position of something/ a little/ etc. in other words a pose should come between what and book, or what book learning is a set?

Does "the business of life" mean "the affairs of life?"

    Thank you very much

    Re: what

Yes, a pause between what and book. Turned into a direct question: What can book learning have to do with the business of life?

And yes, business of life = living one's life.
