    I'm not sure whether the following sentence is right:
    They drink and take drugs themselves.

    Yes, it is correct. This is the use of a reflexive pronoun for emphasis. In this case it is probably talking about some group that has criticized the behavior of someone.

    One could say: "They drink and take drugs." That conveys a fact.

    "They drink and take drugs themselves" implies that they have given up the right to criticize others.
