    in the stretch of

    Can you give me some synonym for in the stretch of, I understand the sentence but to be more exactly....
    "the stores were in the stretch of the Yangtze delta near Shangai"

    A "stretch" (of land) is a distance along a line.

    In some cases, one could say "along a strip by", "along the banks of", "along a line parallel to". I don't know the particular geography there.
