    movec closer together

    The following is about mental edge, which emphasizes the mind control and please help me to get the follwoing sentence, especailly the red part.

    1. The brain monitor was connected to a video screen showing two bars of light that moved closer together as the subjects successfully relaxed one side of their brains. ( what does it mean by moved closer together?)


    2. In other words, mental rehearsal of an action puts the mind through a neural workout that is similar to the real thing. ( if possible, could you please paraphrase this sentence?)


    3.Imagery can help people prepare for peak performances by mentally walking them through successful strategies and potential pitfalls.


    4. Experts recommend that athletes develop an "image bank" containing mental movies they can play for relaxation, for getting psyched up, and for building confidence.

    Exactly what it says - the gap between the two bars of light became smaller


    2. In other words, mental rehearsal of an action puts the mind through a neural workout that is similar to the real thing. ( if possible, could you please paraphrase this sentence?)

    If you are learning a new game (say tennis) and in your mind you practice your shots, you will find the next time you are actually playing, your technique will have improved. This is a "neural workout". All good athletes practice it.

    Says more or less the same as above.
