    Use of "the"

    Hi,

    1. Nintendo is popular among school children.
    2. Latin dancing is popular among the college students.

Should it be "the school children"?

    Thanks

    Re: Use of "the"

In American English, using the in either of your sentences would sound awkward and unusual.

    Thank you mykwyner.

The second sentence is from a book on prepositions.
The first sentence is what I intuitively said. But when I
was given the reference of the second sentence, doubt arose
    in my mind.

If you're talking in general, then I see no need for the article.
