    Which one is correct to say and why?

    1. He is the father of two children.
    2. He is the father to two children.

    He is the father of two children means he is the biological father.

    He is the father to two children means he acts as a father to them but they are not his own, perhaps he has adopted them. It may be better to say He is like a father to them.
