    convention

    Hi, Teachers,
I met the sample for the word below, convention, i am wondered if it can use the collective noun, convention, directly, because my dictionary is not so good enough to accord with the native usage.
The convention voted for the new constitution.
Or, it should say The members who attended the convention voted for the new constitution.
    Thanks and regards

Both are OK, depending on the context. If it has already been said that members attended a convention then there is no need to repeat the information. If it has not been made clear then it would be appropriate to expand and include the information that the convention was made up of members.
