If we want to keep our Mekong River clean, there are many things that we can do to avoid water pollution along Mekong River. The first and most important method to avoid water pollution of Mekong River is for people living along the river to know how to use water in a very safe way. For example, they must conserve the water by turning off the tap when running water is not necessary. Moreover, people should not throw or flow household wastes into the river. They also need to keep their animals away from the river and stop cleaning their animals/letting their animals bath in the river because animals wastes contain substances which can pollute the water. The third way to avoid water pollution of Mekong River is that people must use a proper cultivation practice. For instance, they should know how to use the amount of pesticides and chemical fertilizers on their crop land, because if they use too many chemical fertilizers and pesticides, these chemical substances will be carried into the river when there are water runoffs or floods.
