    "the guy from the gas company"

    What exactly is he fixing? The gas heater? Then he'd be "the heating and cooling guy" or "the furnace man."

    If he's coming to read your gas meter (so they can send you your bill), it's the "meter reader." If you've got a gas leak somewhere and the gas company has to repair it, then we're back to "the guy from the gas company."
