    jogging, drill

The housemates woke up and began spot jogging in the garden. Everybody was doing their morning drill when they found someone lying on the ground

What is the meaning of `housemates', `jogging' and `drill' in the above sentence?

    Re: jogging, drill

Jogging is a slow type of run, done for exercise. Faster than walking, but slower than running. In your example, they're "spot jogging," which means they're running in place. That is, they stay in one spot while moving their knees, legs and feet up and down as if they're running.

A "drill" is a formal exercise session, with someone directing and everyone else participating.

People who share a house together. Usually they aren't related to one another, and each one pays a monthly rent to live there.
