    So and Such

I just did a so and Such quiz. there was a sentence reading like this, 'It took......long to get home last night'. I inserted 'so' which I think is correct but the results say I got it wrong and it should have been 'such' instead. It just sounds 'so' wrong to say 'It took 'such' long to get home last night'. I feel it would make sense if the sentence read 'It took .....long time to get home last night'. I would have easily used 'such' though perhaps 'such a' would even be better. I don't understand how my answer can be wroing. Could you explain to me why.

Because even if "time" is missed you have to feel it.

You've got it right, Agnes. I can't think what may have been in the mind of the whoever set the quiz; 'so' is an adverb and usually precedes an adjective; 'such' is an adjective and usually precedes a noun or noun phrase. Your examples are fine.

It's a simple case of human error. Mine, actually. Thanks for letting us know and sorry for that. the correct choice has now been checked.
