    Some questions, pls help

    Hi, teachers,
1\I met the sentence in a book, I know all about downsizing and rightsizing, How to understand the above phrase bolded.
2\He was quickly recruited by a prestigous Washington, D.C., law firm that specialized in patent law, what does 'D.C.' mean, and can I replace 'prestigous' with 'famous'?
3\We have spent a fortune making our children have recieved the best education available. How to understand the usage available here? I have consulted my dictionary and have not found that the word could be used as an adv, but in this sentence, 'available' seems used as an adv.
4\There is no job security any more, how to understand this sentence, does it mean that there is no job without any risk?
    Thanks and regards!

    Re: Some questions, pls help

I think you had a type : "prestigious" not "prestigous"
D.C is an abbreviation for "District Columbia"

3\We have spent a fortune making our children have recieved the best education that is available
it's relative pronoun,so available is an adjective...

    hope that helps
