What do you think is the answer?

Which of the following is the closest to the given passage in meaning?

When Israel needed to destroy any enemy, its leaders often turned to

Sharon, the head of rightist Likud Party. To his critics, he is an unyielding

    hard-liner.

    (A) Sharon is a good advisor to Israel's political leaders.
    (B) Sharon is politically hawkish.

Which one is right? And I don't understand the underlined phrase.

    Please help me.

    B. The underlined phrase is hard to understand because there is a usage of critic' to mean 'person who issues hostile criticism' that is often confused with another meaning - 'person who makes an analytical assessment'. In this case, you want the first meaning.
