    stylistic or language?

    Hi,

could you please tell me which is better:

    stylistic proofreading
    language proofreading
    or something else?

    Thank you very much.

Sorry to be obtuse, Hanka, but better for what?

    Re: stylistic or language?

I would just like to know, whether I can use the term "stylistic proofreading" or "language proofreading" and which of the two is better or if any other expression is used.

    Re: stylistic or language?

If I was to be asked here about what I was proofing for, I would say proofreading for style or proofreading for grammatic accuracy. Putting an adjective in front rather looks as if it is the proofreading which is stylistic. Others may well have a different take on this.

    Hi Hanka

A proofreader reads a manuscript after it has been edited and set into type, correcting any errors of grammar, word usage or sense the editor may have missed; marking errors introduced by the printer; and sometimes comparing the pages to the copy editor's copy, making sure corrections have been properly made.
Proofreading means correcting everything that is related to style and language or grammar, as Anglika has already explained.

    Best wishes
