    past tense

    does the word cost have a past tense. do you say it costed me a bundle.or it cost me a bundle.

    Cost, like put, cut, and several other common English verbs, does not change in th past tense.

    When it has the meaning of 'estimate the price for smething' then it takes -ed (in British English, at least):
    The builders costed the job at 500.
    Otherwise, as Mykwyner says, it doesn't change.

    I've heard business people say they were "costed out" of an enterprise (it got too expensive).
