    a friend in need

    1. "A friend in need is a friend indeed"

    Can someone explain this?

    2. gold digger

I know a school here which when a student got the highest score in test, that student will have a gold award and they call that student "gold digger"...but i think "gold digger" has a negative meaning. Does it have a positive meaning too?

A true friend is one who is there with you even in your worst times.
"A friend in need" - A friend who is of help during difficult times
"a friend indeed' - is truly a great friend

Gold Digger - a woman who uses the fact that she is attractive to get money from men
