The House Of Dust, I need help...

Hi, I'm Italian and I have to translate a poem by Aiken, The House of dust. There's a passage I can't understand..Is there someone so kind to help me?

On one side purples the lustrous dusk of the sea
And dreams in white at the city's feet; (?)
On one side sleep the plains, with heaped-up hills.
Oaks and beeches whisper in rings about it. (?)

I am not able to understand the meaning of the second and the fourth verses

    I thank you very much!!

    To paraphrase:

1: The sea on one side of the city is lustrous and purple in colour, and at the base of the city walls, its white foam lies gently on the sand.

2: Around the city are rings of oak trees and beech trees, whispering gently in the breeze
