    Some questions of Linguistic

    Hello

I have some questions , and I put them here to get answers

    First :
    - In the sentence " the proprietor of the fish store was the sole owner "
which section of the sentence is the cause behind semantic ambiguity ?

    Second :
    - The prefix of one of the following words may have a different meaning :
    A. undernourish
    B. underpants
    C. underweight
    D. understand
    E. other

    thanks

I'll take a shot in the dark and say that it's the word 'sole' which can mean "the sole/only owner" or 'sole' as in the fish,

noun: right-eyed flatfish; many are valued as food; most common in warm seas especially European

    thanks

I don't know where the 2nd part went. I'd say that the 'under' in understand means something different than the other three.

    Re: Some questions of Linguistic

The fish store guy being the sole owner isn't really ambiguous, I don't think; it's just more of a pun. It stands to reason that he also owns the perch, salmon and trout. It's a pretty good joke, though. Some puns are too hard to fathom and they give me a haddock and make me crabby. I'm going to clam up now.
