    Present Perfect...

    Wow! That's fantastic.That's something I have always wanted to do.Do you know it only takes three and a half hours,so you arrive before you have left...

    Why the present perfect tense was used here ?

    You could equally use the present simple, but that wouldn't emphasise the strangeness of the effect of crossing the time zones, while the perfect does by stressing the idea of completion.
