    Red face single out

The design has been singled out for praise by the Authority of Architects .

What does it mean of single out here?

    Can I say :

She has been singled out as the top in the class of ballet by her teacher.

    Thanks

    Re: single out

If you focus on one individual out of a group and treat them in some way differently, you are singling them out.

    Tdol,

Is it a negative / unfair way to treat someone by singling her/him out?
What the difference between single out and discriminate?

    Thanks

    Re: single out

Discriminate is always negative, but single out could be positive or negative.
