    awake or awaken?

    Hi

    Which is correct?

The noise from the discotheque kept us awake / kept us awaken all night.
Is there any other way I can rephrase the second part of the sentence?

    Thank you

    Re: awake or awaken?

...kept us awake all night seems to be correct.

You might simply say...didn't let us sleep!!

Additionally, try 'kept us up all night'.

    Re: awake or awaken?

Yes, 'kept us awake' is correct and 'awaken' is wrong. You could also say 'kept us up'. This suggests that you couldn't sleep at all.
    .
If you want to get a bit more "poetic" you could say something like The noise from the discotheque held our sleep at bay all night.
    .
    .
You could also say "kept waking us up", but that means that you fell asleep on a number of occasions only to be (repeatedly) woken up again by all the racket from the disco.
