"We call upon our hands to perform tasks that range from the mundane to the intricate, from a gentle caress to exerting extreme force."

What does "mundane" mean in this context? What are "mundane" tasks that our hands do?

    Re: mundane?

'Mundane' means ordinary, simple tasks as opposed to 'intricate' i.e. complicated ones.
Ordinary, simple tasks of the hands might be opening a door, holding a bag, holding a pen, putting on lipstick, etc.etc etc
