    dump a mil

"We can take out the bell tower sequence. That's one way to dump a mil."
(film director said this after the studio chairman cut his budget)

I cannot find the meaning of that phrase.

    Re: dump a mil

    I still don't get it.
Does it mean that they will save money if they "take out that sequence" or what?
What is the meaning of dump in this phrase?

    Re: dump a mil

In this case, it means to cut out or save a million dollars. Usually, though, if someone says they "dumped" some money, it means the money was wasted.
