    difference Present Perfect -PP-ing

Hi, how would you explain to high school students (15-18 year olds) when to use the present perfect simple and the present perfect continuous?
I have found various explanations in students' books but none help the kids understand when to use which.
    Thanks
    SF.

This is me again, I have seen one explanation that says with the PP simple the action is finished (it's a result in the present) and with the PP continuous, it is an ongoing action.
Ok, but how do you explain "I have lived here for 5 years now" then?
    Thanks
