    My Dad or my dad?

Please could you let me know the correct grammar for referring to Dad or dad?

    This is the sentance:

"Julian is six years old and he's mad about football, just like his dad."

Should it be "dad" or "Dad" as it's a proper noun?

    Kind regards.

I would say that uncapitalized is correct, since "dad" could not be replaced by the name of his father. If you were referring to your own father it would be "Just like Dad." But in your example "dad" is descriptive, not specific.
