Your brother or your father's son.

My father has only one wife.ok!
I am normaly saying that he is my own brother.
I think that the word own is a wrong usage.Isn't it?

    In Western culture,

my uncle's son is my cousin.
my uncle's daughter is also called my cousin.

my brother is my brother, not my cousin.

my brother and I share the same father, so I am my father's daughter and he, my brother, is my father's son. (My father has one wife.)

He's my own brother, not yours or anyone else's.

You needn't say "own" as everybody knows about it. Brother can't be own. He is related to you through your parents.

I understand, but in Indian collaqualism when I introduce my brother to others in front of some people,if I say that he is my brother ,they would raise a question whether he is my own or not. That is why I am asking you this word own is right or wrong.I want to add a word in between my and brother. Please help me.

    Re: How to say?

    This is my brother.
    We are related by birth.
We have the same mother and father.
    We're siblings.
    He's my own brother.

The term blood brother has two meanings:
    (1) related by birth
    (2) a strong bond between male freinds

    All the best.

    Also,

    We have the same parents.

    'siblings' is a good word.
