    a pair of buses

    Hi,
What I heard yesterday sounded like
There was an explosion on a pair of buses in Lebanon.

It seems a strange collocation to me. What about you?
Never heard anything like that. Does it mean 2 buses?

    TIA

It is a bit obscure - one explosion and two buses. Either bad writing or the buses were joined in some way.

It does and it sounds strange to me too. A pair of something is normally used for shoes, etc, where two are required or go together.

Or maybe they were parked close to each other. But I agree - it sounds very odd. Perhaps it was written by a Lebanese reporter.

After reading your posts I even had a moment of doubt - could I have dreamt it? But no, I did hear it on the BBC World. And I've found the proof:
