    keep one in her face

I really thank all the people for kind answering my questions.
I have another question to ask about the underlined sentence.( p 157 in the Pelican Brief )
    -----------------------
She would change clothes and hats and sunglasses. She would start smoking, and keep one in her face. She would move until she got tired of moving, then she might leave.
    -----------------------------------------
I can't picture her keeping one in her face. Will you explain her motion to me?

    I'd appreciate your help!!!!!!!

From your limited context, that's my best shot.

Angliholic is correct. In many slang contexts, face is a synonym for mouth.

    Shut your face. [Stop talking]
    Stuff your face. [Eat excessively]
