    confusion......

    i need to convert the foll sentence in2 reported speech

    sheila to susan"have you seen the designs i made on the computer"

    i read a rule of past perfect somewhere that only the 1 st verb of a sentance can be in past perfect now if this is true wat should the answer be??????

    That rule is not always true and is doesn't apply to indirect speech.

    does that mean both verbs can be in the past perfect and the finished sentence would be:

    sheila asked susan whether she had seen the designs she had made on the computer???

    This reported sentence is intriguing and tricky. There may be a few different versions; let's see which one works better:

    2. Sheila asked Susan whether she saw the designs she had made on the computer.

    3.Sheila asked Susan whether she saw the designs she made on the computer.
