    a chest of drawers

Hello, please tell me about this.

"I put the book on the chest of drawers".

In this sentence, does it sound wierd if I omit "the chest"...like

"I put the book on the/my drawers"
    ?

Well, in that way it could mean your underpants. What about?

Ex: I put my clothes on the dresser.
