    what is the difference in meaning between: I hope she will come, and I was hoping she would come?

    [1] I hope she will come.
    => You don't know if she is going to come or not.

    [2] I was hoping she would come.
    => You know now that she won't be coming.
    => You know now that she did in fact come.
