    Past tenses

    Are these sentences right?

    1) I was thinking about her, when she came.
    2) I realised, I was tired after I had gone for many hours.
    3) I had never tried this before, so it was hard.

If there're some mistakes, please correct them.
    Thank You...

after I had gone for many hours- What do you mean by this? You could say 'many hours after I had left'.

    Re: Past tenses

The first is wrong because the 'adjectival clause of time' (' . . . when she came.') is dependent (Think of it as 'bolted' to the preceding independent clause.), so the comma shouldn't be there -- and you mean 'arrived,' not 'came.'

The second is wrong because 'I was tired because I had [been walking] for many hours is a 'declarative clause,' and should likewise be 'bolted' to the verb 'realised.' (Bear in mind that the conjunction 'that' that might stand between 'realised' and 'I' is 'in ellipsis.' that is, it has been omitted.

The third sentence is correct: ' . . . so it was hard' is a subordinate clause, so it SHOULD be 'set off' by a comma -- but change 'this' to 'it' to 'that.'
