    Best TEFL course?

I am currently looking into a career in Teaching English as a Foreign Language but as there are just so many different TEFL courses I don't know which one I should go for.

Can anyone give me any advice on which companies provide good reasonably priced TEFL courses that are internationally reputable? Or simply any advice to do with courses?

    Thanks very much!

On pragmatic grounds, I'd recommend the CELTA- you can go pretty much anywhere with it.

    Re: Best TEFL course?

I'd agree with Tdol - the CELTA or the Trinity Cert TESOL are probably the most internationally recognised and accepted courses. Both these are 120 hour, classroom based courses, and they include several hours of observed teaching practice.

If you have a look at some TEFL jobs websites (for example TEFL jobs, TEFL courses, ESL resources,, a quick browse of the ads will show you that most employers nowadays are looking for one of these qualifications or an equivalent. Generally speaking, the shorter and less classroom based the course, the more limited your employment options will be. You'll also feel better prepared and more confident if you've had some actual teaching practice on the course.

    I hope this helps.
