    socialite

Clould anyone help me with the bracketed parts of the following passage?

[Although some might argue the socialite as we once knew her is dead, her successor’s social calendar is still jam packed], and her list of contacts in the fashion industry is growing by [the New York minute]. Fashion glossies like W and Vogue regularly feature young butterflies like Alexandra Von Furstenberg, Rena Sindi and the Hilton sisters [mugging for photographers amid the hip DJs, models, movie stars, and artists who are typically their fellow revelers.]

socialite - person who lives only for social events
    jam-packed - very full
by the minute - very fast, so by the NY minute - really fast
mugging for photographers - posing for a close-up
    hip - trendy, up-to-the-minute, fashionable
fellow revelers - participants in the same social events

    Any clearer?

    Re: socialite

A socialite is a person who mixes in fashionable society. Some commentators suggest that the characteristics of the socialite have changed, and modern examples have events to go to every day.

"New York minute" - fashion changes very very quickly

The young ladies (who come from a moneyed backgrounds ) are often photographed surrounded by people from show business.
