    Adjectives & adverbx

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I am an avid english learner. I wish to bring it to your kind notice that I get confused when it comes to recognize Adjectives & Adverbs.

Kindly suggest me some ways so that I can recognize/ identify what role the word plays in a particular sentence??

    Warm Regards,

    Re: Adjectives & adverbx

As a simle rule, there's no simple rule in English though, adjectives are used to modify nouns or pronouns, while adverbs are used to modify verbs, adjectives or other adverbs.

    4 example:

I hope to be a honest husband. ( In fact I hope to get married as soon as possible ).

Here the adjective "honest" modifies the noun "husband".

    I drive very fast.
    Here there're 2 adverbs.

No. 1 is "very" which modifies the another adverb "fast"
No. 2 is "fast" which modifies the verb "drive".

Be careful coz there're such words that can function as adjectives or adverbs such as "hard, late and fast".

    I hope I've helped.
