    Sympathize

    Dear Teachers,

    A. I really feel so sad about the girl I love. She not only don't sympathize with me but also always get me wrong and judge me wrongly.

    - Is this sentence correct to say?

    Thanks a million

    Re: Sympathize

    I'd say it this way:

I really feel so sad about the girl I love. She doesn't sympathize with me but always gets me wrong and judges me wrongly.

I'm always doubtful when ESLs say sympathize - speakers of Latin-based languages so often get it wrong; it means 'express fellow-feeling [often, but not necessarily, over shared grief or pain]' and has nothing to do with being simpático. Where is namsteven from?

    Dear Bobk!

    - What do you mean by "where is namsteven from?"?. Actually I'm from Singapore. Once again, Is the sentence that I wrote correct to say?

    Thanks a million

    Re: Sympathize

Yes, as long as you don't misinterpret sympathize the way French, Spanish and Italians tend to. (That's why I asked where you were from.)
