Re: Please could you check this sentence 4 me?

You begin by using the present tense runs and then change to a past participle placed.
Use of the present tense to report an event that has already taken place is often used by English journalists. Following this style you would say:
He runs the marathon in 4 hours, taking 200th place.
If you were writing a more formal report, you would say:
He ran the marathon.....taking 200th place or
He ran the marathon.....and was placed 200th
    Hope this helps.

    another doubt:

    if I say:

he ran the Paris marathon in four hours taking place 265th
and I want to go on saying that the following year he improoved
    is it correct to write/say:

he ran the Paris Marathon in four hours taking place 265th, the following year he improoved his time of 19 minutes

    thanks

    Try,

He ran the Paris Marathon in four hours, taking 265th place / placing 265th. The following year he improved his time by 19 minutes.
