He llo, I'm Yoshio from Japan.

Do you say "I appreciate it" to the people who are very close to you, for example, to your mother or father?

I wonder whether I can use the phrase in any situation or to anybody.
I've seen a person say "I appreciate it" to his friend in a movie, so it seems to be OK to use the phrase between friends. But what if it is between a child and his or her parent?

I'll "appreciate" your help . :)

You can say "I appreciate it" to anyone. :) It usually indicates a deeper level of gratitude than just saying "thank you." In fact, the two phrases are often used together when someone has done a big favor for you.

For example, you're behind schedule and when you're finally ready to leave for work, you discover your car has a flat tire. If you take the time to change it, you'll be late for work. Your mom steps out of the house and hands you the keys to her car. You take them and tell her, "Thanks very much, I really appreciate this!"

Thank you very much for your quick reply.

Just to make sure, I want to ask one more question.
Do ten-or-twelve-year-old children say "I appreciate..." to their parents?

Sorry if I bother you because I might be asking the same question.:-?

A 10 or 12-year-old could say "I appreciate it," but it would sound terribly formal and stilted. It's used more by older teens and adults. :)

Thank you very much.

I guessed it might be a bit strange for young children to use the word "appreicate" to show their gratefulness because the Japanese translation for the word is rather formal and 10-12 year old children wouldn't use it, either in Japan.

In the process of translation, this kind of thing must have been thought about.

Again thank you so much for your kind help. I really appreciate this.:-D
