    Question which one is correct?

    I have two sentences, Can someone tell me which one is correct?
    -- What do you think has John been now?
    -- What do you think John has been now?

    The second is correct if you say like this. Where do you think John is now? There is no need to ask two questions in one sentence.

    when you say has been .. that's mean that you are talking about the place ..
    so you should say WHERE instead of WHAT ..

    but you used the word NOW .. so you should say IS instead of HAS BEEN

    so the correct way is : Where do you think John is now!!

    The first one is incorrect no matter where you take it.

    The second one is correct if you want to know what John was dressed up as. Perhaps he was dressed up as a cowboy, and you want to stimulate conversation with someone about that.

    If you want to know where he was, then follow what everyone else is saying about that sentence.
