    There'd better...

I've got one short and simple question: does the 'd in There'd better be stand for would or had or perhaps something else?

    Thanks in advance.

"had better" is a semi-modal, similar to should (but more forceful!..it has an "or else" component)
There'd better be some doughnuts at the meeting or I'm leaving
