    what is "inside track?"

"The program offers a compelling international perspective on the world of film
by traveling around the globe to bring viewers the inside track on all aspects
    of the movie business."

In the above sentence, what does "the inside track" mean?
Does it mean something like "a closer look?"

    Thank you for your help.

It means a privileged or more advantageous look (and therefore, I suppose, in this case, closer).

Two senses of 'inside' are involved. In a race on a track with bends, the shortest and therefore quickest route is on the inside track. 'Inside' can also mean 'characterized by private information' - as in 'inside knowledge'.
