    Performing a role

I want to express the notion of being immersed in a character (dramatic or otherwise) and performing a role according to its pre-written attributes, but I do not know how. In Swedish "rollgestaltning" pretty well catches the meaning, but my dictionary gives me an answer which is definitely not correct. Performing is the closest I can get. Is this correct? An example would then be:

She does a nice role performance in film X.
She performs her role nicely in film X.

Can I express this in any other way? I mean, it must be fairly common when talking about acting, but I cannot find anything. Please, help!

    Kindest regards,
