    Post Grammar check

Don is a former graduate of St. Francis School and he (is/was) found of good moral character.
Which is correct, is? or was? And why? Thanks...

Depends on context - it may be something to do with a court case, where the sentence could well be "he was found of good moral character [when interviewed for a post]"

It could be part of a reference letter, where the sentence needs to follow the use of the present tense.
