    underlining

According to news agency PTI, Preeti had also alleged that her parents were implicating her close friends in false cases.

She said she had written to the city police on February 11 and that a declaration was also made to the police on March 8 underlining the circumstances under which she left home and stating that she feared for her life.

    Please explain the highlighted words.

    Please explain the highlighted words.
1: Preeti is saying that her friends have been accused of wrong doing, and that this is false/untrue.

2: By twice making a declaration to the police officially, Preeti has emphasised her view of her situation. When you write a piece of text, and want to emphasise a sentence, you underline that sentence so that it stands out from the rest of the text.
