    would be

    I would be back after a few weeks.

    I thought would is used as past of will and in conditional statements.

    But here would seems present tense.

    So, I am confused.

    Could you clarify it please?

    I haven't any satisfying answer but the conditional clause might be implicit
    I would be back after a few weeks (if I could) . The (con)text must also be taken into account .
