    complacency

Kapil Dev feels that lack of commitment and complacency were to be blamed for the losing matches

I found dictionary meaning complacency is (a feeling of calm satisfaction with your own abilities or situation that prevents you from trying harder)

In what way it is used in the above sentence?
or simply explain `complacency' in the above sentence.

Is 'lack of' associated with both 'commitment' and 'complacency'? Is it 'complacency' or lack of it that is to be blamed for the losing matches? If complacency is considered on its own, the best definition would be:
A feeling of contentment or self-satisfaction, especially when coupled with an unawareness of danger, trouble, or controversy. -in the sense that they were too sure of themselves and they let themselves go.
Can the experts explain how to be sure whether 'lack of' is associated with both the following words or just the following one?

Sloppy writing! This way it is clear that the team's complacent attitude and lack of commitment are two contributing factors in losing their matches.
